Hmmmm...I thought I had posted this Saturday night. My apologies for not double checking! The post was written then, and I could have sworn I hit post! Enjoy, even though it is late appearing to you!
Hi, everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Ours has been very busy, hence the lateness of this post.
This week, we officially began our Language Arts series. We introduced letters A, B, C, D, and E. The students and I worked hard on some beginning of the year testing and assessments (not my favorite way to start the year, but the knowledge gained is valuable, and allows me to better meet the needs of all students). We continue to work on learning the routines of the classroom, and I am LOVING getting to know everyone a little better each day.
We also began our math series this week. Please be patient with me as I learn the ins and outs of this program! It is a new program, and we are figuring it all out. Our focus for the first couple weeks of school will be on working with numbers 0-5, and using them for many different skills. One way you can support your child's learning is by having him or her create different groups of items (again, from 1-5 items), and "touch one, count one", to reinforce that concept of "number". Math homework will come home a couple times a week. Please complete it with your child, and return to school the following day.
Information about school pictures came home in your child's folder this week. The photo order form will be coming home soon, but note that the date of pictures is October 8. ALL students will have their photo taken (for use in the school yearbook), whether you are planning to order pictures or not. Keep this in mind when dressing your child for school on this date.
Finally, here are some photos of our week! Enjoy, and I'll try (but no promises!) to post again before next weekend!
